Samsung Health is dropping Weight, Food, and Caffeine tracking
One of the best things about Samsung’s fitness tracking app — Samsung Health — is that it offers a ton of additional features when compared to similar solutions from other manufacturers. Along with the usual step and fitness tracking, heart rate monitoring, and sleep monitoring, the app also helps you keep a track of your weight, calorie intake, and daily caffeine consumption. However, according to a recent report from Sammobile, Samsung is now dropping these additional features from the app in an upcoming update.
The report cites an end of service notice shared by Samsung in Germany, which states that Weight, Calorie, and Caffeine tracking will no longer be available in new versions of Samsung Health. This change will be put into effect with the release of Samsung Health v6.11 on mobile and v4.1 for Samsung smartwatches. Once the update rolls out, Samsung Health users won’t be able to access these metrics on the app and watch faces that displayed these metrics will no longer be able to do so.
The end of service notice further reveals that widgets for tracking these metrics won’t be able to sync that content to Samsung Health following the rollout. In case you’ve been using these features with your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Fit, you’ll get a temporary option to save the collected data following the update. Do make sure you save your data as soon as the update rolls out, as it will be deleted after a certain time.
The updated app with the missing features is scheduled to start rolling out this month, both for Samsung smartphones and wearables. If you’re one of the many Samsung Health users who use these features, you can check out the Caffeine Tracker app and MyFitnessPal’s Calorie Counter app to continue tracking your weight, calorie and caffeine intake once the options are removed from Samsung Health.
